My Journey:
This ten minute walk increasingly became more of an aural adventure as Manveer’s vision deteriorated due to a degenerative eyesight disorder. My Journey fuses original music ranging from Indian to Jazz, and Middle Eastern to Western classical, creating an appealing, fresh and innovative sound. Accompanying the music are especially-created video projections, lighting and soundscapes, depicting the route of Manveer’s journey, forming a synthesis of music, film and recorded sound which explores the relationships between sounds, emotions and visual impairment. Highly accessible and of interest to audiences across a wide spectrum, My Journey is a completely original and fascinating production.
Se Teen Saba: Se Teen Saba was put together by Manveer Singh, after meeting Dan Wilkins and Frank Moon whilst studying at Birmingham Conservatoire. They have a shared interest in world music and combining different musical traditions. Their work as a trio has brought together the Indian instruments tabla/dholak with the kora (African harp), Middle Eastern oudh and acoustic guitar. The group has arranged traditional music from Eastern Europe, the Middle East and West Africa and also collaboratively composed some original tracks. Performances to date have included short sets at venues including mac, Birmingham. The highlight of the group's career so far has been an hour-long performance at WOMAD 2006, an opportunity which developed through links with the BBC following Manveer and Dan's success in the 'African Connections' New Talent competition. Manveer, Dan and Frank all have active performing careers with a variety of other ensembles.
Acoustic Vibe: Acoustic Vibe is an ensemble that performs Punjabi and Hindi songs with a twist! A strong world music influence, including jazz, blues, West African and flamenco, features in the performance. Acoustic Vibe has played for private functions such as weddings, conferences and birthday parties as well as presenting stage shows at venues including Birmingham Conservatoire, Midlands Arts Centre and Leamington Town Hall. Usually a 5 or 6 piece ensemble, the instruments involved include guitar, sitar, flute and sax, vocals, bass and a variety of percussion.
